Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen! Even in the Fall and Winter

We all love being at the beach, that is why we decide to come stay in the Mission Bay area of San Diego. But many people do not realize that you need to wear sunscreen to protect your skin all year round.

A tan may make us look beautiful in the short term, but in the long term UV rays from the sun damage the elastin fibers of the skin. Elastin is the stuff that helps skin look full and springy. Sun damage can cause the skin to sag, wrinkle, and freckle. It can also cause melanoma, skin cancer!

Okay, this isn’t news. We all know we should wear sunscreen to the beach, on a picnic, or when we go outside to run during the day. However, this isn’t enough. To truly protect your skin, consider wearing sunscreen all the time. Your skin still gets exposed to the sun when you’re sitting in your car, when you walk to the grocery store, or when you step outside to pick your kids up from soccer. Even on a cloudy day, the UV rays from the sun still filter through the clouds and damage unprotected skin.
